Schoology to PowerSchool Troubleshooting
Override Grades in PowerTeacher Pro:
Sometimes your synced grades do not show up correctly in PowerTeacher Pro. When you are at the end of a grading period and getting ready for progress reports or report cards, it is recommended that you review your grades side by side between Schoology and PowerSchool to ensure they are correct. If they are not, you can try to sync again. If this doesn't fix it, you can override the grade in PowerTeacher Pro.
- Ensure you have the proper Grading Term selected in the top right corner.
- Select the A+ Grading icon in the left side bar.
- Select Scoresheet from the menu.
- Click inside the box next to the students name in the Grade column
- Type in a percentage and Grade override, then click Enter.
- When done with all of your changes, click Save.
Reset Overriden grade notes:
After a Progress Report grading period, sometimes you need to reset overridden grades so that your Sync will continue to update grades correctly and not be stuck at the grade you set at the mid-term or progress report. To do that:
- Click inside the box next to the students name in the Grade column
- Click the refresh button in the grade calculator box (circle with an arrow icon).
- Do this for each student to reset, then click Save.
Overall grade notes:
If you'd like the overall grade in Schoology to match the overall grade in PowerSchool, make sure you configure the following:
- The same number of categories in Schoology as in PowerSchool.
- The same weighted categories in Schoology as in PowerSchool.
- The Calculated by the setting of grading categories set to Total pts.
- The factor for all assignments is set to 1.
FAQs and Known Limitations
- The integration does not currently allow the mapping of attendance.
- The integration does not support percentage-based calculations. All scores in PowerTeacher Pro calculate as Total Points. Please keep this in mind when configuring category weights in Schoology.
- If an item is ungraded in Schoology, the item will not sync with PowerSchool.
- Error messages: In general, the best practice is to attempt a re-sync event if the status of the sync is Error. Teachers can re-sync individual assignments as desired from the red notification icon in the Schoology Gradebook:
- If you need to delete an assignment, do it in PowerTeacher and then sync. If you delete it in Schoology, the sync will not work as expected.
- Time to Sync: A gradebook sync can typically take up to several hours.
