Overview of LPOSD WiFi Channels

Lake Pend Oreille School District has 4 WiFi Channels available to log into for wireless devices. The WiFi channel you use depends on the end user’s relationship with the district AND the type of device they are connecting. This document explains which device you should be connected to.

SD84-GUEST

This is our guest network, available to anyone bringing devices into the schools that are not owned and maintained by the School District. This keeps devices outside of our ownership and control in a secure location where it cannot cause issues with our network. No username or password is needed to join guest.

SD84-BYOD

This network is set aside for Staff to connect their own personal devices, and stands for Bring Your Own Device. To connect to this network, you must use your Windows Active Directory credentials, which are the same credentials you use to login to a Windows machine anywhere in the district (the username does not use @lposd.org, just firstname.lastname).

SD84-SD

This network is set aside for District owned devices. Joining this network requires that the school device be added to our ISE server by the Technology Department, and that a certificate be installed with the username and password needed to join the network. This is done automatically for Chromebooks and iPads. School owned Chromebooks, iPads and laptops mainly make up this network. Devices must be on this network to access District printers and Apple TVs. If you have a school owned Chromebook, iPad or laptop that will not connect to SD84-SD, submit a helpdesk ticket.

SD84-AUX

This network is used by the Technology Department in order to get District owned auxiliary devices onto the network. These would include Apple TVs, wireless document cameras and other one-off devices. This network is password protected and only used for specific Tech needs.
