Managing And Freeing Up Space on Google Drive
A lot of teachers are seeing that some of their students can no longer use email or Google Drive because there is no more available space.
Have the student (or staff) open up Drive.Google.com. On the left, they will see the message that they are using more than the allotted space given to them.
Here, we see that this particular student is WAY over their 10GB allotted space. Click "Manage Storage" on the bottom. This will let the student or staff member see what is using up all of the storage.
In the example below, you will see that the majority of all the data used is from Google Photos.
Since a lot of chromebooks don't have a separate icon for google photos, have them open up an internet browser, and go to photos.google.com.
Once they go to the photos Google site, they will have a chance to see all of the photos they need to clear out. This could take a while for some students and staff, but you can also access this page from a home computer, and save any desired photos to your computer before you delete them from from your photos.google.com account.
To mass-Delete photos, you can click the small checkbox on the 1st photo, hold down the SHIFT Key, and while holding shift, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the small checkbox on the last photo. This will select them all, and you can then click the trash-can on the top right and delete them. You might have to empty your trash can afterwards.
